Welcome to the twentieth day. You know the drill. Just remember to start and finish with a prayer.

1.Read

David B. Haight taught that, “The Lord’s purpose is to save all mankind. Can you think of a more majestic purpose, to save us all—all who will hearken and obey? …What are you trying to do or what do you want to get or to accomplish? The establishment of a worthwhile purpose is a beacon for all to follow, a guide, a white line down the middle of the highway on a foggy night. What do you expect to achieve? What do you want to become”?

.

Patricia T. Holland said, “Take heart if you are still asking yourselves such questions, because we all do. I do. We should concern ourselves with our fundamental purposes in life. Surely every philosopher past and present agrees that, important as they are, food and shelter are not enough. We want to know what’s next. Where is the meaning? What is my purpose?

When asking these questions, I have found it extremely reassuring to remember that one of the most important and fundamental truths taught in the scriptures and in the temple is that “Every living thing shall fill the measure of its creation….

They know our purpose and potential, and they have given us the perfect chance to make the perfect contribution in this divine design”.

.
Andrew J. Maxfield taught us that “Time is all we’ve got in this life; a few ticks on a clock, a couple of breaths in and out, and we’re done. So what will we do with our time? We can spend our days seeking wealth and other worldly trappings (to which moths and rust are particularly attracted). This is easy enough to do—especially given the siren song of modern consumerism—but we cannot afford to prostitute our education, to sell ourselves short by “labor[ing] for that which cannot satisfy” (2 Nephi 9:51). Our souls are at stake here!

.

Janie Penfield said “We are here on earth in a type of adventure. We left our Heavenly Father to obtain bodies, to be tested, to make covenants, to gain knowledge and experience, and to hopefully return to live with Him. But we do not always remember these purposes. Many who do not have the gospel have forgotten these purposes because of the veil. We often get weighed down by the daily monotony of school, church, family, and work and forget about our aspirations—aspirations that our Heavenly Father wants us to have”.

.
2 Nephi 2:26 And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.

.

Mosiah 3:19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.

.

3 Nephi 11: 10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.

.

Alma 34:32 For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.

2.Watch

 .
3.Ponder  (write these answers down if you like)
.
Why are you on earth?
.
Why is it sometimes difficult to lose vision in your life?
.
What do you want to accomplish before you die?

What can you do to make your purpose feel more clear?
.

(End with a prayer)
